WHAT:  Rocky Mountaineer Vacations, owners and operators of the Rocky Mountaineer and Whistler Mountaineer trains, will reveal the name of its unsuspecting One Millionth Guest. Over 700 travellers, staff members and industry partners will attend this spectacular event and celebrate the company's largest milestone since its inception 18 years ago.

WHEN:  Thursday, June 5 at 7:00am

WHERE:  Rocky Mountaineer Station in Vancouver, BC Canada  - 1755 Cottrell Street (behind the Home Depot, just off Terminal Avenue)

DETAILS:  Just before the Rocky Mountaineer train departs for the Canadian Rockies, the One Millionth Guest will be surprised with fabulous prizes, fanfare and personally congratulated by company founder Peter Armstrong, President, Randy Powell and Minister of Transportation, the Honourable Kevin Falcon.

Once the One Millionth Guest is announced, there will be a spectacular display, followed by the upbeat rhythm of a Dixieland quartet and a rare appearance by company Mascot, Rocky the Ram. The staff will then lead the crowd in a Rocky Mountaineer tradition - the "all aboard" call and wave off the train as it departs the Station.

*Media are invited to board the One Millionth Guest GoldLeaf Dome Coach and ride the train to Thornton Yard (one hour outside of the station) in order to capture the celebrations onboard.  A motorcoach will transport media back to the Station by approximately 10:15 am.

Photo Opportunities:

7:00am - Everyone arrives at the Rocky Mountaineer Station (podium in front of stage and media feed are available to all broadcast media).

 
7:10 am - Speeches begin (Chief Operating Officer, James Terry is the Emcee and introduces Minister of Transportation, the Honourable Kevin Falcon). 

7:15am - Founder and CEO, Peter Armstrong and President, Randy Powell reveal the name of the One Millionth Guest. Balloon drop, kabuki sign drop,   streamer cannons and pyrotechnic display follow. Rocky the Ram mingles with the crowd while the Dixieland quartet gets everyone in a celebratory mood. 

7:20am - One Millionth Guest receives prizes and congratulatory remarks are made. 

7:30am -  "All aboard" call and travellers board Rocky Mountaineer train. 

7:45am - Interview with winners in front of the train.  

7:55am - One Millionth Guest boards the train.  

8:10am - Train leaves and is waved off by hundreds of staff members and guests (the Dixieland quartet is on the platform as well as Rocky the Ram)
After the train departs, a light breakfast buffet will be served inside the Station for staff members and industry partners.  Members of the media are invited to attend -individual interviews with Rocky Mountaineer Vacations' Management Team are available at this time.
